Literally the most unethical organization on the planet in my opinion. We received a lot of misinformation up to the point we signed the contract. Upon execution, we learned from the implementation team that much of what we were told was inaccurate. This was reported almost instantly and we waited over 30 days for any form of response. It was not possible to move our data from our old EMR to the new EMR even when contacting data migration organizations. I believe AdvancedMD didn’t care one bit. We never added anything to the EMR and decided it was not possible for us to continue. They billed our account a month ahead of time and demanded 3 months' worth of payments before canceling the contract. I believe this is a horrible company. Truly the lowest of all EMR’s out there. Runaway from this organization!
  • Absolutely nothing.
  • The implementation team has integrity.
  • The sales team is worse than car dealers in my experience.
  • Be honest.
  • Investigate the comments made by their employees.
  • Support the end user.
It would be well suited for an initial user. If you are starting a practice and have nothing in place, it might be great. However, if you are a current EMR user of a different platform and have more than a hundred patients; don’t waste your time. This is a hands-off company that, in my opinion, will do nothing to support your efforts. We have a practice of 11,000 patients and would have had to hire 2 FTE’s to print all the patient data and upload it individually.
  • Scheduling.
  • Multi-Locations.
  • We are paying over 5K for absolutely nothing.
  • We believe this company does not concern itself with the end-user.
  • We identified a large lack of ethics in the organization.
The only benefit (which ended up being false for us) was the price point. By theory, it is capable of quite a lot, but sadly we never got that far to even be able to try it. We are just paying for a system we are 100% unable to utilize. We ended up staying with our current EHR and will reevaluate it down the road. Definitely will never seek AdvancedMD again.
In my experience, not one single thing they claimed was true or accurate. This has been a nightmare and I am so happy to be washing my hands of them. This was similar to buying a used car. You got the feeling in your stomach that something was wrong and even when speaking to those specific points the accurate information was withheld.
This was just as bad as the sales team in our experience. We were at least provided accurate information from these folks, but once we all got on the same page and decided we were unable to proceed; we were sent back to the sales team. I believe the “director” is worthless and did nothing to assist us whatsoever.
Hard to say, we never got to try anything. Once we determined the migration would not work to retain data without hiring a physical staff to handle the download and upload of 11,000 records, there was no negotiation. They are even billing us fraudulently for parts of the EMR that would not be legally utilized by some of our providers. As an example, we are being billed for these 90 days for ECPS for 2 providers that are not able to e-prescribe as they are functional medicine doctors.
In my opinion, don’t deal with the sales staff at all. If you do, demand that emails are answered in writing. Despite the fact that they record calls, I believe they won’t review those calls if it happens to be in your favor. This is just the most unethical company on the planet in my opinion. I think you’d be better off with paper records than working with AdvancedMD.

AdvancedMD is our only billing system and is being used across our entire company (Multi-Site Healthcare Clinics) for approximately 50 locations. The software allows us to standardize our entire Revenue Cycle Management function from implementation to operation. It has also allowed us to outsource (for a fee) some of the more menial work which keeps our headcount and turnover risk lower.
  • The built-in dashboard has allowed us to increase transparency to our providers which in turn has improved trust as well as collections.
  • The scheduler tool is very user-friendly and allows us a quick glance into capacity and opportunity.
  • Master data control is an issue as we have multiple "keys" which sometimes have inconsistent inputs/mappings.
  • The support seems to be lacking and it can take quite a while to reach an "expert" who has the time to dig in and respond to an inquiry.
It's relatively easy for new Revenue Cycle Management staff to learn as there are lots of instructional videos and extensive documentation. I've been most impressed with the ability to customize very detailed reporting quickly and accurately. The system very rarely bogs down from the sheer amount of data but I have had issues with the IE browser if it's a large file (20+ MB).
  • The automated connection to our EHR has greatly improved our analytic capabilities.
  • Intuitive and efficient interfaces allows us to get new staff up to speed quickly.
AdvancedMD is a much more user-friendly interface and can be customized much easier without the need for in-house developers. I do think NextGen is more targeted to enterprise level clients as the standard reporting is more in tune with accrual accounting and allows for insurance rates which makes it easier to come up with a true Net Revenue figure.
I've only reached out a couple of times and after being bounced around a few times I simply asked for our internal team to look into the particular question I had. I believe they had some turnover at the time but my experience wasn't great.

  • They provide access to their underlying tables via Open Database Connection (ODBC). This streamlines business intelligence processes greatly.
  • The "canned"/"stock" business intelligence tool (Advanced Insight) is very useful.
  • Our dedicated customer support representative (Breah Teed) has exceeded our expectations.
  • They do not currently allow users to "lock down" the date field which represents the date that payments were deposited into a bank account. Users are capable of perpetually changing these dates.
  • They are currently building a process which allows users to reconcile payment data to a source document (typically an entity's bank account). We are eagerly awaiting the roll out of this product.
  • We have had issues at times where undeserving patients were sent to collections due to software or human error (no true cause was ever found).
AdvancedMD is appropriate for businesses that desire carte blanche access to the data contained in their entity's database. This is a great system for companies that are data/analytics driven. Unfortunately, the main drawback of the system (inability to accurately track deposit dates of payments) is a CRUCIAL FLAW. If a business is interested in a SIMPLE monthly reconciliation to their bank account, you will struggle with AdvancedMD.
AdvancedMD is cloud-based. Kareo PM was cloud-based, but NextGen was not. The ability to reduce in-house infrastructure has been great. When we were using NextGen, it was much easier to reconcile our bank account to the payments posted in the PM software. AdvancedMD's access to data is far superior to that of Kareo or NextGen. NextGen's data was housed on internal servers, so we had similar carte blanche access to the data, but AdvancedMD is still superior.

  • Easy to Learn
  • Streamline workflows
  • Promotes efficiency
  • Lack of custom reporting or ease of custom reporting
  • Schedule templates somewhat limiting for large groups or unique scheduling situations
I believe AMD is very well suited for a small to medium sized practice. I would say that a larger or multi-specialty practice/group would need a great demo and more hands-on prior to purchase to make sure it fits their needs. I did have a 20 provider, multi-location group that was very efficient on AMD.
  • Greenway,Centricity
ADP AMD is much easier to learn and navigate than most all of the systems I have worked with, including Greenway and Centricity. The only thing I liked better in Centricity was the ability to run more customized reports, but overall, I would choose AMD any day over those two.

  • The customer service at ADP AdvancedMD is second to none. The just created an 'Idea Share' area where clients can talk to each other and offer suggestions on making the software better. They listen to their clients and take suggestions into consideration when considering what updates to include in their next release.
  • The product is very user friendly on both sides (PM and EHR). I have used other products in the past and find ADP AdvancedMD to be to be easiest to navigate.
  • Training and Implementation is great! They give clients the tools and resources necessary to be successful. From an online help file, to videos, to a consultant to help get you started, ADP AdvancedMD wants you to succeed.
  • Unapplied credits could be handled better within the software. It would be very beneficial to have the option to automatically apply unapplied credits to patients accounts across the board with a click of a button.
  • Facilities need to be able to be tied directly to Provider Profiles to make reporting easier.
  • You must use Internet Explorer with ADP AdvancedMD. It would be better if you could use it with Chrome, Firefox, etc.
  • Needs the ability to use the product on a MAC.
I believe ADP AdvancedMD is best suited for a small-medium size practice. I could see where it may not be best suited for an eye doctor or hospital type setting. Otherwise, it is great for all other specialties. I have used it at a billing service as well and it was wonderful!

I love that ADP AdvancedMD is web-based and you can use it from anywhere you have internet access. Support is available 8am-8pm EST, so someone is always there to help if needed. I'm excited about the ICD-10 tools they are giving clients to assist with that process. They do regular software updates and listen to client feedback when deciding what updates to perform and the updates are no cost to the clients.

I have been through implementation of ADP AdvancedMD at other companies and it went smoothly.
  • Online training

No
Support is included.
I believe in this product and have seen it get better and better because they listen to their customers.
Yes
It was resolved in a timely fashion.
We have had some emergencies come up within our practice where we needed something immediately (reports). ADP AdvancedMD got higher ups involved to help us get the reports out of the system the same day.
  • The appointment scheduler is very easy to use and has a good workflow.
  • Billing - Submitting claims is very simple and you get immediate results on claims that did not go through. This allows you to fix errors and get claims out the door in real time.
  • EHR - Documenting a patient visit is very simple.
  • Unapplied payments - This is our headache with the software. We see so many patients and if we put in a default copay to have it automatically apply to the visit and the insurance comes back and says they didn't have a copay or they paid too much, we have to unapply the patient payment before we can apply the insurance payment. If we don't put in a default copay for the patient, we have a huge unapplied report to work that just grows every day.
Yes
You can use ADP AdvancedMD on an iPad, tablet or laptop. (just no MACs)
Overall, I think ADP AdvancedMD is very user friendly and constantly improves as new releases come out.
